Shoes with air not enough? Try wires
2009-03-16

Cole Haan, a division of Nike, is stepping out this month with some cutting-edge technology for shoes that was originally developed for athletes at last summer's Beijing Olympic Games. The launch of the Flywire shoe collection speeds up the traditional design lag time from elite athlete to average guy --it used to take years, not mere months.

The Flywire shoe collection features a grid of high-strength threads that act like cables on a suspension bridge, giving support where it is needed. The thread filaments also allow for a minimalistic shoe design that is extremely lightweight.

The shoes also incorporate other Nike technology such as Zoom Air, Ramp Air and Max Air -- high-tech air pockets for additional comfort and support.

Cole Haan Flywire shoes for men and women will retail for $230
