      The Air Tuned Sirocco is NIKE's Tuned Air equivalent to the Air Tailwind. Tuned air was developed when the patent for NIKE Air ran out. Tuned Air uses many strategically placed rubber hemispheres of different thicknesses within the air bag to tune your stride. This model has tuned air in the heel and a visible air-sole in the forefoot. This model is a top of the line running shoe made for high mileage. The Sirocco has a smooth ride and a low, close to the ground feel to it. The Air Tailwind has a dual-pressure air-sole in the heel and a visible air-sole in the forefoot. The Tailwind is slightly wider than the sirocco and a little bit more cushiony. The Tailwind and the Sirocco are very durable because they are made with a polyurethane midsole. Polyurethane lasts longer than phylon (EVA) which is NIKE's other midsole material. The outsole of both models is made of BRS 1000 (carbon rubber). Carbon rubber is very durable and is used on most running shoes. The upper of both styles is made of a leather/mesh combination. A speed lacing system is used on both models. The speed lacing system allows the laces to be uniformly tightened with just one pull from the top.
