The Nike Air Max Plus aka AMP was released in the fall of 1998. It was the first running shoe to feature Nike's Tuned Air system. The Nike Tuned Air system consists of two opposing polymer hemispheres that rebound against each other to absorb shock. The Nike Air Max Plus is commonly refurred to as the AIP MAX TN or Air Tuned.
     The AIR MAX TN was a huge hit in London and Europe (especially France), but was not a major hit at home in the US. In fact, the MSRP has actually dropped in the US from its initial price of $125 to $110 - something that rarely happens with Nike. Nike wisely has retroed the Air Max Plus countless times, mostly in European markets. In the US, you can only find the Air Max Plus at Footlocker, Champs, Footaction as it is exclusive to their chain.
